WIAW - Gym time

So you know I joined a gym recently. I have been going all the time - I can't believe how much I enjoy going to the gym. It's fantastic! I actually tried a class the other day - cycle. It was hard work, but a lot of fun. Definitely going back this week. I also want to try BodyPump and Pilates, but I missed out last week due to other commitments. Hopefully I can get to Pilates this week, and maybe a BodyPump. I never realised how much fun it could be going to the gym.

So as it's Wednesday it is once more it's time for WIAW. And as usual, a huge thanks goes out to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for putting together this blogger party.

Again, as it's winter, and although not a paritcularly cold winter, I can't really talk about summer foods because there is not a lot of summer fruits out and in the morning all I want are oats to warm me up. And for dinner, stews and cassoroles are all I want on a cold night. This week is slightly warmer though, so I've been enjoying slightly more spring foods - a lot of fish and fruit. So here is what I ate on Monday.

Breakfast: Oats with muesli, honey and strawberries.

Lunch: Salmon, whole wheat pasta and roasted sweet potato. All leftovers.

Dinner: Technically dinner this night was two huge bowls of oats because I felt sick after the gym. But here is last nights dinner - goats cheese and bacon stuffed chicken, served with a mix of potatos, carrots and mushrooms.

About feeling sick after the gym - does this happen to you guys? It's only been happenning recently - I have been pushing myself rather hard, and I always end up feeling nauecous and dizzy. I don't know if I've been drinking enough water. I know I have issues with dehydration, which resulted in a trip to the hospital once, so maybe that's the problem. Does this happen to you? Do you guys know what it is or how to deal with it?

On a happier note, I'm now off to check out your WIAW's.

  1. I often feel dizzy after a hard gym session especially if you work yourself really hard.
Probably it would be a good idea to try a post recovery protein shake - I use BSN Lean Dessert in Choc Fudge which is just at woolies (plus it is the only protein shake which actually tastes awesome.L Glutamine is a supplement that also aids in muscle recovery so I use that especially if I do weights or resistance exercises.

Plus hydration of course is crazy important :)

    Happy WIAW :)

  2. Sorry you felt sick after the gym. I used to get like that if I hadn't fueled properly for my workout.

  3. Chocolate milk does wonders post workout. If you're not averted to dairy, try it. My boyfriend was a full time rower, and is my personal fitness coach and he swears by one glass of chocolate milk as a recovering fuel before you can actually get to regular food.

I've been craving winter foods, even though I live in Canada. My New Zealand mum's been giving me updates about our family there, and they keep talking about stews and chilis and my mouth waters every time... Happy WIAW!

  4. I agree with the above comment. Chocolate milk is such an easy & cheap drink to have after tough workouts for recovery. Also make sure you are staying hydrated :) Hope you start feeling better girl.

  5. Gahh feeling sick after is not a fun situation... and I am going to echo everyone here by saying recovery meals that are a good balance of nutrients will help you with that. And yep, chocolate milk is a good choice, along with other items after :)

  6. Hm that sounds rough. You could be dehydrated. I would try getting some extra electrolytes in during your workout. See if that works.

    1. It is totally possible I'm dehydrated. I know sometimes I don't drink as much as I should.
