Firstly, I just wanted to say a quick Happy Halloween for those who are celebrating it! I'm not as it's not a big thing over here.
Secondly, I wanted to send my sincerest wishes to everyone affected by Sandy in the US and particularly the Carribean. I hope the process of rebuilding does not take too long or is too awful.
Thirdly, I wanted to quickly say that I am doing NaNoWriMo this November and was wondering if anyone else out there was and if they wanted to talk or chat about what they're writing? I'd love some company doing this crazy task!
Fourthly, the ever lovely Leanne and Eat and Get Moving nominated for a sunshine award! I already responded to it last week but wanted to say a big thank you for the lovely surprise.
Fifthly, I wanted to post this vlog. I know I could save this for another day but I did it a few minutes ago and wanted to share it because it came out ok. I totally stole this idea from Madison at Eating 4 Balance. It's an accent vlog, so readers can see how you sound.
I know, I'm a total dork and sound like a crazy person on the vlog. For everyone who knows me in real life, please forgive me.
So here is what you do for the accent vlog:
Here is a list of words you should pronounce:
Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught
And the list of questions you should answer:
1. What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
2. What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
3. What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
4. What do you call gym shoes?
5. What do you say to address a group of people?
6. What do you call the kind of spider (or spider-like creature) that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
7. What do you call your grandparents?
8. What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
9. What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
10. What is the thing you change the TV channel with?
*Note: Make sure to include where you are from home as well.
On your vlog just say the words and answer the questions. It's that simple.
Here is mine:
Again, I apologise for my voice. And the awkward screencap of me before the video starts. The video itself is actually of better quality, I swear. Let me know what you think!
And finally, onto What I Ate Wednesday. A huge thanks goes to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for continuing to host this.
These were my eats from last Friday, which was my last official day at uni for the year. I had an extremely early breakfast because I wanted to get started early.
Breakfast - baked apple with oatmeal stuffing.
After breakfast I did a final edit of my assignments, went food shopping with Marnie, and then went all the way into uni to literally walk up six flights of stairs, drop off my assignment, walk back down the stairs and hop onto a bus to go back home. Then around 10:00-10:30 I had a small snack/lunch, because I was thinking I was going to go to the gym afterwards.
Snack/Lunch 1: Unpictured rye cruskits with smoked salmon, cream cheese and tomato. Followed by unpictured popcorn - lots of it!
The cruskits weren't really that great and I wasn't happy with them, so I ate loads of popcorn. Then, I lay around and caught up on some tv. I was planning on going to the gym around 12:00-12:30 but I was starving so I ate. I figured I could go later.
Snack/Lunch 2: Brown rice with cheese, leftover baked sweet potato and pumpkin. Had with a banana smoothie - banana, peanut butter, cinnamon, splash of almond milk and Chobani plain yoghurt.
I was going to have the smoothie after going to the gym but I decided I could take a day off from exercise. It was supposed to be lower body day, which means I've missed it this week, but oh well. I haven't had a day off in a while. And I ended up cleaning the apartment so I did some incidental exercise. It totally counts.
Dinner: Grilled chicken with tropical salad and mashed sweet potato. This was just amazing. I will be making this again. So simple, so easy and so quick! And it was beloved by all. I've never seen Marnie eat dinner so fast!
Dessert/snack throughout the day: Sweet and sour slice. I made this last week and demolished it, so I made some more. I'm already half way through! But damn, this stuff is good. Made with cashews, almonds, kiwi fruit, lime, dates and unsweetend coconut.
So as you can see, it was an exceptionally lazy and boring day.
Let me know if you guys to a vlog - link me to it!
I cannot get over how delicious your meals look!! Way to listen to your body and take a rest day girl. So important :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessie. I find it hard to do sometimes but you're so right, it is really important.
DeleteThat breakfast looks so good! I've been eating at least one apple a day this month, they're just so good.
ReplyDeleteAnd that vlog is so cute. I love actually being able to listen to bloggers voices. The Australian accent has always been one of my favorite accents. Growing up my best friend was Australian so I had a slight Aussi twang...sadly not anymore.
Happy WIAW!
I cannot get enough apples these days. I don't know why!
DeleteAnd thank you - you had an Australian best friend? That's so awesome. I think our accent sounds so weird compared to others! :) Have a great week!
Yay, a vlog! I loved watching it! You are so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteAnd as always.. yummy looking eats! I never though of having a baked apple with oatmeal stuffing for breakfast before. I need to try that sometime! Not sure it would come out pretty like yours though. :)
Have a great day!
Awww, thanks Shannon. I honestly don't know how the apple came out looking like that!
DeleteWhat a cute idea for a vlog! bookmarking this :)
ReplyDeleteThanks - it's actually pretty fun!
DeleteCongrats on participating in NaNoWriMo! I'm not writing anything (that idea scares me!) but I'm excited to cheerlead for all of those who are!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's a little daunting at first :)
DeleteLove your vlog! Watched it last night but didn't have time to comment :) Your accent is so cool. And we say so many words differently. I would never have guessed. I had never heard of a sun shower before watching these accent vlogs. Learn something new everyday :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I have briefly considered doing the NaNoWriMo. I'm a member but I never seem to get past the first few days :) Maybe I'll just use this as inspiration work on some of the one's that I've already started!
DeleteThanks! I actually had a lot of fun. It's ok, my roommates proceeded to laugh at the video and then later tell me what the bug's name is. I forget it again though.
DeleteOh, you should definitely try it. Today was my day one. I wrote a decent amount but I have no idea how long I will keep it up for!
I am loving those roasted sweet potatoes as a snack. I adore vlogs because it is nice to hear the voice behind the blogger. sounds like you are super busy but lots of good stuff for sure.
ReplyDeleteI love vlogs too because I am terrible at placing American accents and I love to hear what people sounds like!
DeleteThat baked apple looks wonderful. I made a batch of my own this weekend and they were lovely. Must try the oatmeal stuffing
ReplyDeleteOh, it was wonderful! Such an easy and delicious breakfast.
DeleteLove your accent. I just love Australian accents but I can definitely hear that yours is different to what we "expect" to hear in the UK! :-) Also, most of your pronunciations are much closer to what we say than the American versions.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks so good! I'm so glad to find your blog....it's lovely!
Oh, thanks! I know, I think Australia is way more British than American in how we talk.
DeleteAnd thank you again! That's very sweet of you!
Your vlog & the questions are so much fun! If I figure out how to make then post a video, I'll definitely give it a try :)
ReplyDeleteYummy looks eats as always! I've been loving sweet potatoes lately. And I bet my bf would totally love that baked apple - will hafta make it for him!
You should definitely give it a try! And thanks - you should make him the baked apple - was so good :)
DeleteThis vlog is SO cute! I want to do one! Language fascinates me. That apple looks beyond amazing too. Do you have the recipe posted somewhere? Thanks for posting!
