WIAW - without honey

Hey guys.

So I haven't introduced this concept on the blog yet but I'm trying a whole no sugar thing (it will be in Friday's post). I should mention this doesn't include fruit - if it's naturally occuring sugar I'll eat, I'll just be wary of the amount. I have already failed, inadvertantly, when I had tinned apricots today. In my defence, they are the zero point weight watchers ones and I was just thinking about the fact it was fruit. So, yeah, failed already.

Other than that, things are good here. I had a lazy day which involved reading, watching a lot of tv, writing and doing an awesome upper body workout. My legs are still feeling it from yesterday's workout so I focused just on the upper body today. Now I'm sore all over.

But, in what is the greatest news so far this week, one of my recipes was featured on TastyKitchen - on the front page! This has not happenned to me before, so I was pretty excited. If you want to check out what recipe it was - it was the Skinny Fudgy Banana and Peanut Butter Brownies (i.e. the brownies I can't stop dreaming about).

And as it's Wednesday, it is time for WIAW. Thanks to Jenn at Peas and Crayons for this!

Breakfast: porridge with strawberries, banana, cinnamon and coconut. No honey. Yes, I can't believe it either.

Snack before gym (unpictured): popcorn!

Lunch: Leftovers from last nights dinner - spinach and herb wrapped fish, with baked sweet potato and pumpkin and brown rice (with cheese). No picture - sorry, but the picture looked truly awful.

Snack: Baked pear, tinned apricots and natural muesli (just a little bit of sugar, I swear. It's homemade stuff).

Dinner: Pasta with garlic mushrooms and tomatoes, spinach and cheese. I had this x 2. Doing nothing makes you hungry.

Snack (unpictured): Tinned apricots. Just a little bit though.

And with that, I'm off to see what you guys have gotten up to this week!

  1. YAY Bec, congrats on your Tasty Kitchen feature!! They sure look tasty :)
I know a lot of people who try to have less sugar but it's sooo hard since there's hidden sugars everywhere. I'll have to check back on Friday to read more about it. Be sure to keep us updated on how it's going.
    Happy WIAW!

    1. Thank you.

No, I'm not giving up fruit - I pretty much live for it. I'm not going to be eating any more of it than I usually do (2-3 serves a day), but I believe that as it is naturally occuring it won't harm me as much as other sugar! :)

  10. OMG that's so cool!!! Congrats!!! What an amazing looking recipe...those will definitely be happening on an upcoming cheat day! :D

Good luck with the sugar! Def make sure to read labels because they sneak that crap into everything. I bought dates without reading the package and lo and behold, they were rolled in sugar. Ugh!

    1. Thank you so much! I can't believe they had dates rolled in sugar! I am being really conscious of checking labels at the moment - and I know its silly, but I keep getting so surprised at where they are hiding sugar.
